AUTISM 1st: from chaos to conduction

Education
My name is Joe Heiderscheit. For the past 15 years I have been a practicing professional counselor and professional art therapist with families of children on the autism spectrum. This month, I am publishing my first book AUTISM 1st: from chaos to conduction. AUTISM 1st is a new psychoeducation curriculum of care for parents, and providers to utilize with people on the autism spectrum. The book is filled with professionally illustrated symbols and metaphors to simplify complexity of neurodivergent life within a neurodivergent framed world. I would like to present examples from the AUTISM 1st tool kit, as well as merchandise that re-enforces a shared language from the AUTISM 1st Family Provider Network. Thank you.

What inspired you to make this project?
My book coach recommended that I apply to this event as a way to meet new innovative people. I am excited to learn more about Maker Faire and share my new book AUTISM 1st: from chaos to conduction.

What are some of the challenges you have encountered and how did you address them?
Networking is not a natural skill for me. I am interested in gaining experience meeting new people, learning from them, and informing the public of a new framework for supporting people on the autism spectrum, using my book AUTISM 1st: from chaos to conduction.
