A First-timer’s Guide to MakerFaire Louisville!

Maker Faire Louisville is the BEST thing to do in Louisville on September 28 and 29! Part street festival and part science fair, Maker Faire is a special family-friendly event where everyone of all ages is welcome. What should you expect when you get there?

A FREE Family-Friendly event

Everyone is welcome at Maker Faire! Bring your kids, bring your best friend, bring your coworkers—even bring that neighbor you’ve been meaning to get to know. This event is for anyone and everyone. There truly is an activity for every single person of all ages to experience!

Fun All Day Long

Maker Faire is on September 28 and 29 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. each day. It will take a few hours to experience everything, there is that much to do! Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and bring a hat and water bottle so you’re comfortable the entire time.

Food & Drink

At some point during the day, it’s inevitable that you’ll get hungry. We’ve got you covered! Local food trucks will be rolling in to Maker Faire to provide some delicious dishes. Fresh Out the Box, Fistful of Tacos and LATino Food Trucks will be stationed near the entertainment stage. For any of our attendees who are 21+, MileWide Brewing will be on site with adult beverages. Grab some grub and a beer while you watch our various speakers and musical acts!

Music

Everyone has a favorite genre of music, and some people will defend their choice to the ends of the Earth. At Maker Faire Louisville, we have a little bit of something for everyone: rock, indie, hip-hop, pop, grunge, country, jazz, orchestra and everything in between. The best part about it? These are local bands and artists who are excited to share their talents with the community!

Makers, Makers, and More Makers

There will be over 65 makers showcasing their projects and passions at Maker Faire Louisville. There are makers in technology, the arts, engineering, and everything in between. We have FIRE, ice sculpting, wood carving with chainsaws, drone flying, and a rocket team just to name a few. We even have a massive GE Appliances robot that the GE Appliances and FirstBuild teams went full #makermode on. Don’t be that person who gets FOMO and regrets not going later. Come to Maker Faire Louisville and be in the center of it all!

Educational & Hands-on Learning

Many of the makers will have interactive aspects of their booth. Don’t be afraid to ask them questions! They are more than willing to share what the make with you. Learn, experience, and get inspired—that’s what Maker Faire Louisville is all about!

Speakers

Want to be inspired? Check out our passionate speakers who embody the Maker Faire spirit. There will be presenters ALL DAY Saturday and Sunday. We have a jam-packed roster of speakers including Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer, Master Maker Jimmy DiResta, Maker Faire founder Dale Dougherty, JCPS Superintendent Marty Pollio, and Louisville Orchestra Director Teddy Abrams, to name a few.
